Blurb

'Twas the weekend before Christmas, when all through the North End
Not a Walsh had his life together, not even his friends;

The parties were planned by the foodies with care,
In hopes that Wes and Erin would soon find their way there;

The men were stressing over last minute shopping lists and plans,
While the ladies were busy with work and nesting and finding the right paella pans;

When out in the dining room there arose such a clatter,
The Halsted dogs sprang from their beds to see what was the matter;

They whistled and shouted and called each other names,
While the secrets and announcements and surprises quickly came;

So onto another adventure they flew
With the sleigh full of Walshes, and the Commodore too—

As they continued arguing and clamoring around,
Down the road an unexpected visitor came with a bound;

But it wasn't long until couples were all nestled snug in their beds,
With new memories of steamy holiday nights dancing in their heads.

Author Bio

Kate Canterbary doesn’t have it all figured out, but this is what she knows for sure: spicy-ass salsa and tequila solve most problems, living on the ocean–Pacific or Atlantic–is the closest place to perfection, and writing smart, smutty stories is a better than any amount of chocolate. She started out reporting for an indie arts and entertainment newspaper back when people still read newspapers, and she has been writing and surreptitiously interviewing people—be careful sitting down next to her on an airplane—ever since.

Kate lives on the water in New England with Mr. Canterbary and the Little Baby Canterbary, and when she isn’t writing sexy architects, she’s scheduling her days around the region’s best food trucks.

I am not a victim.

At least that’s what I wanted to believe. What I wanted the world to see. Five years of trying to find the girl I hid from the world.

I wouldn’t let the bullies win. I couldn’t.

What was I supposed to do when he walked into the building? He’d made my high school years a living hell.

But, he doesn’t recognize me.

How do I prove he didn’t break me? Simple, take him home for a one-night stand.

At least it sounded like a good idea at the time.

Excerpt

It couldn’t be. There was no way in hell the Cosmos could be so cruel as to let me have the performance of my life, only to be faced with one of the people I hoped to never see again.
But there was no denying it.
Cole Wallace was here.
The room that only hours ago seemed small now seemed minuscule, like the walls were closing in on me.
Five years.
Five years I’d spent trying to push every memory of him out of my head. To reinvent myself. To become a woman I was proud of. And the night that everything could change—the night things could finally go my way—Cole had to step into the same bar.
Mariloon.
Mariloon.
A light knock rapped against the door. I pulled my legs tighter against me, pushing myself closer to the wall, hoping whoever it was would go away. The knock grew louder, until the person was pounding on the door. Each thud sent a tremor through my body.
“Mari, open the goddamn door. I know you’re in there.”
I buried my face in the protective embrace of my arms, ignoring Sawyer, memories of the worst years of my life assaulting my brain even as I tried to keep them at bay.
I glanced at my phone. Shit, I was going to be late to class if I didn’t hurry. Turning down a side hallway, I picked up my pace. It was the long way around, but it meant I didn’t have to take the main hallway, past where the cheerleaders and football players hung out between classes.
The bell rang.
“Damn it.”
“Aww, late for class?”
The hairs on the back of my neck rose. These hallways were normally empty.
My stomach dropped, but I ignored the voice and moved even faster. A hand wrapped around my arm, pulling me to a stop.
“You’re already late. Stay. Have some fun.”
With a shove, I was pushed up against the lockers behind me. My heart raced in my chest. I tried to control the shaking of my hands as I lifted my eyes to see which one of the jocks had decided to torture me today.
Sam Horton.
He lifted a hand to brush the hair from my face. I flinched at the contact.
“Look at that, Cole, she doesn’t look happy to see us.”
Over Sam’s shoulder, I could see Cole leaning against the lockers on the other side of the hallway.
Sam leaned in and I pressed my cheek to the locker, the metal cool against my heated skin. I closed my eyes, afraid he was going to try and kiss me. There was a long pause before he laughed, cruelly.
“Did you actually think I would kiss you?” He sneered. “Why in the hell would I let these lips touch a freak like you? No guy in this school wants to put any part of their body near you, Mariloon.”
Cole burst out laughing. Sam stepped back, tilting his head down the hall. “Let’s go. I don’t need a detention.”
They started to move away and I felt my shoulders sag. They weren’t out of earshot, though. Still close enough for me to hear Cole say, “Just tell them Mariloon tried to kiss you and you had to stop her before you could get to class.”
My knees buckled and I slid down the lockers to the floor, tears racing down my cheeks. The sound of footsteps forced me to my feet and into the nearest bathroom. I raced inside the stall, slamming the lock across and sitting on the seat, my head in my hands, sobs racking my whole body. How could I go to class now? There was no doubt everyone would know what happened by now, and exactly like Cole said, it would be all my fault. They probably told everyone that I came on to Sam, hoping to sleep my way to the popular group. It was just the same as always.

Rock Me by Rebecca Brooke is the first book in the Jaded Ivory series. Despite the title, it is about way more than Rock or a band.

Mari is the lead singer of the band Jaded Ivory. It was a reluctant position for her but one that has her finally coming into her own, becoming her true self after years of high school bullying had completely decimated her and brought her to her knees. She has grown with the help of her best friend Sawyer and her band mates into a truly talented, beautiful young woman.

Cole Wallace always lived and breathed football but an injury sidelined his professional dreams. Now he teaches and coaches. A night out with a friend will change his life forever. Can he prove to Mari that he is a different man than the one she remembers?

In a story that highlights so much of what is in the news today, can two people, both victim and perpetrator, who were at the center of a bullying campaign that would decimate the average person,
get past that kind of hurt and damage to become whole? To become a couple? There may be no hope for Cole and Mari but there can be some kind of redemption in the end.

I was very intrigued by a book that involves not only a female rocker, but a book about bullying.

Sometimes the things you experience in high school leave their mark on who you become as an adult. And sometimes you can't take back the things you've done. I loved the way Rebecca takes you through Mari & Cole's journey to overcome who they were in high school.

This is a story about bullies, redemption and forgiveness. Don't miss out on this book.

I left home a proud, strong woman, determined and eager to support my country. But I came back a completely different person.

I’m wounded, scarred, and nothing more than an empty shell. I’ve lost my ability to open up to those closest to me. Why? Because no one understands. No one knows the hell I’ve been through.
Every time I close my eyes the nightmares are there, waiting, lurking in the shadows, ready to torment me further. My only escape is the sting of alcohol, the burn that numbs my pain. Everyone sees it as a weakness, calls it a coping mechanism. I call it survival.
I’m a lost cause…until I meet him—a Boston cop with demons of his own, who knows what it’s like to be haunted by his past. He understands my pain, knows all about the nightmares, and makes me feel less…alone.
But we are both broken, tainted by our pasts. How can we heal each other when we’re both shattered souls?

Amazon 5 Star Review - “Grab the tissues first, because this book is guaranteed to shatter your heart and soul” Amazon 5 Star Review - “If you can get through this book without ugly crying, something is seriously wrong with you.” Amazon 5 Star Review - “Heart Achingly Beautiful Romance”

Alison has been writing for over a year now. Her debut book Finding Love (October 2015) was published by Siren Publishing. Her following books Needing Your Love (November 2015), Found My Love (December 2015), and Fighting for Love (January 2016) were also published with Siren to finish the Learning to Love series.

Her desire to see her books on shelves led to her next work Chasing Dreams (April 2015), now Club Thrive 1: Compulsion. She submitted it for publication with Limitless Publishing and was thrilled that it was quickly accepted. Excited to reach that goal, she moved on to the next series she had in mind and wrote Saved By a Soldier (June 2016), My Broken Soldier (July 2016), Forever My Soldier (August 2016), and A Soldier for Bella (September 2016). She continued writing adding the Once Broken series and she's added to the Club Thrive series.
Alison enjoyed reading as a child and found her passion for it again in 2011 when E.L. James’ Fifty Shades of Grey was released. Her love of reading was re-ignited and she continued reading other books in the same genre. In the summer of 2015, she decided to give writing a try and two weeks later Finding Love was born. As soon as she finished the first book, she began writing the second book in the series. Her third book was finished by the time Finding Love had been accepted for publication. Alison discovered she has a passion for writing and has spent the last year meeting new readers and sharing the love she has for writing.
Married to her own real life hero, Alison lives with her amazing family in Massachusetts where she was born and raised. She loves having her own personal inspiration right at home and when she’s not writing she enjoys playing soccer, basketball, and football with her son.

I can't begin to tell you how much I enjoyed this book. Shattered Souls by Alison Mello is the first book in her To Love and Serve series. It is my first book by Alison but I can guaranty you it will not be my last.

Can people who have suffered tragedy really find a way to mend their shattered souls and can two people with such tragedy heal each other? This book takes you on a journey through different tragic experiences but the same PTSD end result. Keegan is a Boston cop who puts everything he has into making sure that others, namely children, don't ever have to go through what he has gone through. Although he seems whole, there are still some things from his past that he is having a difficult time getting past and it makes him both endearing, loving, tough but also at times reckless.

Lexi is a combat wounded Army veteran who is having a difficult time dealing with what she has seen and suffered through. She tries to drown her memories in alcohol but with Keegan's help, she learns to finally find a healthier way to let go. Not everything is smooth sailing for these two and things will happen that will either break them apart or cement them together.
I truly beautiful, heartwarming, difficult story to read with enough steam to satisfy!

 This was my first Alison Mello book and it most certainly won't be my last. This book is a heartbreakingly beautiful story of of hope and healing and should not be missed.

Can two shattered souls heal each other...is that even possible? This book will have you questioning that very thing from the very beginning of the book. From the moment Lexi meets Keegan they have a connection. The demons these two live with are so heart wrenching and I found myself crying for both of them through out this book. Check out this book and find out how these two find mange to find healing in each other and all the things that happen along the way that help not just Lexi, but Keegan also.

I can't recommend this book enough and it was refreshing to get to see a woman in the military's prospective.
