She was my foster sister, her luxurious house the only home I’d ever known. I fell in love with Evie before her doctor parents signed my adoption papers. They threw me out the day they caught us. Now I’m Dr. Jones, so far removed from who I used to be, it seems like a bad dream. I tell myself nothing can touch me. Until I see the residency roster at Rockies University Hospital. There’s only two incoming neurosurgery residents each year. This year it’s Landon Jones—and Evie Rutherford.

5 Sexy Heels

This was my first Ella's James book. Even though my blog schedule was already so full, I couldn't resist after reading the blurb. I love reading books about topics that are near to my heart. So, reading this book about a foster child even though it's nothing I personally experienced, I find that I can relate to the feelings they have of themselves. I really enjoyed this book and it kept surprising me at every turn.

Of course I got the gist of the story, but I had no idea how all the details would play out. Ella does an amazing job spinning this emotional tale that had me smiling and feeling hopeful to crying and my heart breaking. It starts out in the present and then flashes back to when they first met. You get to see how there love grows until things fall apart in the most heartbreaking way. Then it flashes back to the present and you get to see how the past is complicating the present. They clearly still love each other but being apart for ten years has changed them both. Life happened and now they have this second chance.

This book took me by surprise and shock me with twists and made me worry it was going to be one of those "sort of happily ever afters." You know what I mean when the author brakes your heart and then doesn't give you what you hope for, but it's still a HEA and left with your heart torn out of your chest...

You will just have to check out this book to experience all the details...laugh, cry and hope.
