About the Author

Avid drinker of Coca-Cola, L.B. Dunbar loves the sweet things in life. Her affair with all things romantic began with her first book at the tender age of six: Goldilocks and the Three Bears. One can never forget her first! From there, the reading journey includes a deep love of fairy tales, medieval knights, regency debauchery, and alpha males. She loves a deep belly laugh and a strong hug. Occasionally, she has the energy of a Jack Russell terrier. Accused, yes, that’s the correct word, of having an over active imagination; to her benefit, such an imagination works well. Author of over a dozen novels, she’s created small town worlds, rock star mayhem, and MMA chaos. Her other duties in life include: mother to four growing children and wife to the one and only.

Redemption Island is the first book in a duet by L.B. Dunbar.

Where do people who have done horrible things go when the only other option is jail for the crimes they have committed? Is there a place that can bring a person to their knees and help rebuild them into the people they need to be? Redemption Island is such a place. As stated, it is not a vacation and it is not fantasy island. Those that come will be alone to live with all of their feelings, their guilt, their crimes and their fears.

Tack by all accounts has always gotten everything he has ever wanted. He doesn't even need to ask -- he just takes....and no one says ever says no. One night changes his life completely and rather than take jail time, he is given a sentence of a year on the island.

Juliet has had unspeakable things done to her all her life. One day when brought to the edge of her sanity, she takes things into her own hands and now must pay the price.

Both believe they are alone on the island and both attempt in their own ways to try to atone for the damage they have done to others. But the island has secrets, and so do the inhabitants.

This story is not your regular, run of the mill love story. It becomes so much more. Was everything they both saw and did real? Or was it all a mirage like a ship on the ocean when you are drowning? LB gives us a story that leaves us REALLY thinking. I can completely say that I disliked Tack at the beginning both because he was so cocky and egotistical but because of what we believe he has done. Juliet is just a lost soul and it is easy to feel her pain and her heartbreak. I absolutely can't wait to read the second book in this duet because I want to find the closure that they both want and need as well. Is it possible for these two to redeem themselves and atone for the crimes they committed?

This book takes you through Tack's journey on Redemption Island after being sentenced to one year alone for committing a crime. I personally think he got off pretty easy, but I was interested to see where this story was going and how he would far being alone on the island. Besides his monthly delivery of supplies, Tack has no other human contact. So, when he happens to stumble upon a beautiful woman swimming in a spring near a water fall he was taken a back, then he realized that he knew this woman. At this point in the story, I was not completely sure that Julia was real and throughout the book as these two interact with each other, I was never truly convinced.

Check out this book to find out how these two ended up on this island and why...then enjoy the banter and back and forth between Tack and Julia as the island works it's magic. Will these two find redemption, heal and hope?
