“What do you do when you write down all your secrets? No…that’s not enough. What do you do when you write down all your secrets and the one person who should never read them does?
I’ll tell you what you do.
You hope.”

Ren didn’t know the meaning of love until he took Della for his own.
To begin with he hated her, but as the months bled into years, he learned the opposite of hate, dedicating his life to giving her everything.
Every sacrifice, every gift, he gave wholeheartedly.
But then love turned to lust and ruined everything.

I was stupid to write my secrets down, but I’d been stupid before so it was nothing new.
I couldn’t blame him, hate him, fix him.
I tried to move on without him.
But no matter what I did, I couldn’t seem to delete the secrets I’d written.
Until something happened.
Until he came back and read my stupid secrets.
And nothing was the same after that.

The Girl and Her Ren is the second book in The Ribbon Duet and was absolutely worth the wait. There are books that touch your soul without even trying and this one happens to be one of them. Yes I loved the Boy and His Ribbon and yes I thought to myself, how much more can she bring to this story? How long can the pull of will they or won't day take to bring to light? How much more can we find out and learn about these characters since we have known them since nearly birth? I might have been a little afraid that there might be just too much "filling" as I have seen with some other duets but I'm here to tell you, that is absolutely NOT the case and Pepper Winters proves to us that she is indeed the queen of angst and the queen of words. This story was like reading some of the best poetry out there. Listening to Della and Ren describe their feelings and tell their stories was both beautiful and heartbreaking. Seeing them grow into such beautiful human beings and learn to trust that others can love them just as much as they love each other was just such an amazing ride. I'm not sure there is much more that I can say without spoiling the story and this is one story that you don't want spoiled for you. You need to dive in deep and swim in all the emotions. This is a five star (and only because that is the max I can do hear) and a 10 hanky story for sure. Buckle in for the ride.
