Life has a funny way of throwing you off
balance.
Take me for example. I spent years in a bad
marriage with a self-serving ass, only to have the love of my life show up when
I least expected him. Greg helped me on my journey of self discovery and taught
me that, no, I’m not perfect. But I’m perfectly me. It was an amazing journey.
We laughed hard. We loved even harder.
And then he was suddenly and cruelly ripped
away from me by the unclenching jaws of fate.
Ok, so it wasn’t that dramatic. And I
really need to stop watching the Investigation Channel.
But now Greg is back and as it turns out,
re-incorporating someone into your life isn’t that easy. Between jobs, kids, and
barely-there friendships, life and love can be messy. Making it all work is a
balancing act.
But we’re determined to get it in check.
But we’re determined to get it in check.

Author Bio
Mother, reader, storyteller—ME Carter never set out
to write books. But when a friend practically forced a copy of Twilight into
her hands, the love of the written word she had lost as a child was rekindled.
With a story always rolling around in her head, it should come as no surprise that she finally started putting them on paper. She lives in Texas with
her four children, Mary, Elizabeth, Carter and Bug, who sadly was born long
after her pen name was created, and will probably need extensive therapy
because of it.

When we last left Elena in Getting a Grip, the love of her life had just left her in order to maintain a relationship with his young daughter in another state. Months later finds Elena maybe still missing Greg but also finding her groove, getting a job, getting the attention of a handsome younger man, finding routine and being generally happy.
Little does she know that her world may be thrown upside down again...or maybe it will be finally righted. Only time will tell. The same wonderful snark, snappy comebacks, witty conversations and support from the first book are still here...some made me laugh out loud and spit up my drink...Callie's caffeine prank lol. But also still here are the wonderful lessons that we seem to forget as we trudge through our daily lives. Our ability to judge not only ourselves but others so harshly is something I think most of us have to deal with and exercise restraint with. Elena is a work in progress but it is wonderful to know that she is done letting others walk all over her and define who she is. We all need a balance check...you know...taking a pause and fixing things that are wrong before you move forward. I absolutely love the idea of using gymnastics terms and relating them to how we should live our lives.
I think M.E. said it best in her acknowledgement:
"Every Elena out there: There are Greg’s out there. Don’t overlook him because he has a pot belly or a balding head or a crazy ex. We deserve a Greg. But the Greg’s deserve us, too. He doesn’t have to be a book boyfriend to be the perfect man for you. Don’t miss him."
