Hot romance stories for the over 40 crowd are few and far between but LB seems to be able to bring them beautifully to us and the story of Edie and Tommy captivated me from the beginning. What's not to love...Tommy may be over 40 but that hasn't stopped him from being a successful band manager and the hottest thing on two feet (yes there are younger but holy hell he is a beautiful silver fox -- at least in my mind...and Tommy spent alot of time on my mind lol). Edie is going through her own personal hell. She is a breast cancer survivor and divorcee with two adult children. Learning to care for herself is not always the easiest thing for her and trying to consider herself desirable is even harder. The fact that Tommy even looks her way seems foreign to her. She can't seem to see what others see. Throw in a younger mom who seems to just adore her, and ex who is a complete jerk, a boss who tries to help and secrets...way too many secrets...and you have a recipe for a story that will keep you guessing, cheering, swearing, swooning, fanning yourself and hoping for an outcome that will work for all involved. I loved the analogy that Tommy was so fond of using about fine wine waiting to breathe and needing to be uncorked. Family always says I'm sorry...but does family always forgive?

When I found out that there was going to be another Over 40 book, I was so excited. LB has done it again. She has managed to make me fall in love with with not only the main characters but all the secondary characters.

After Care is an amazing story about Eddie who is celebrating surviving breast cancer and meets Tommy Carrigan on her vacation. I love the way LB deals with so many different life issues, cancer, divorce, family first, newly married challenges and twists all that up with a rockstar romance. There are lots of twists and "I didn't see that coming" moments to make this book beyond amazing.

I absolutely fell in love with Tom and couldn't get enough of this story. Check it and and find out how these two find their Happily ever after. You will not be disappointed.

RELEASE BLITZ/REVIEW - A Shameless Little Con by Meli Raine

Title: A Shameless Little Con
Series: The Shameless Series #1
Author: Meli Raine
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Release Date: January 30, 2018

I didn’t do it.

I never betrayed my friend.

Last year, I was kidnapped along with presidential candidate’s daughter Lindsay Bosworth, forced to help her assailants, my mother implicated in one of the biggest political scandals in American history.

I've been cleared of any wrongdoing, but that doesn’t matter. Once you’re tried by the media, you’re guilty as sin. The truth doesn’t get the public’s attention.

But shame? Shame sells.

And everyone assumes you’re tainted.

Now I have my own personal security team, courtesy of the United States government. Not the one you learned about in civics class, though.

I’m being tracked by the deep state. The shadow government. They’ve assigned Silas Gentian to be with me twenty-four seven. He thinks he knows everything about me – all of it bad -- and he does.

On paper.

Like everyone else, he assumes I’m a traitor. A backstabber. A betrayer. Someone who helped a group of violent psychopaths, puppets of powerful men in Washington who made me into a tool.

Yet I see how he looks at me. True desire can’t be faked.

Or hidden.

And that goes both ways.

He assumes I’m trying to fool him.

And he might be right.

But not for the reasons he thinks.

A Shameless Little Con is the first book in the Shameless trilogy by USA Today bestselling author Meli Raine.

A Shameless Little Lie (Book 2 ~ Coming March 27, 2018)
A Shameless Little Bet (Book 3 ~ Coming May 29, 2018)

“Has it ever occurred to you that maybe, just maybe, if you thought it through, there might be a completely different angle on every part of this mess? That maybe I’m telling the truth?” I taunt him. That’s how this feels–like nothing but a nasty game. The push-pull of wanting him to treat me like a human being and wanting to lash out and hurt him is infuriating, but it is better than sitting here and taking his negativity like a passive little doormat.

“Of course I have.”

“And you’ve rejected that. Completely.”

“Then you’re really bad at your job, Silas,” I say, letting all the bitterness and contempt come through my voice.

“You’ve wounded me, Jane.” Turns out he can do contempt, too. Better than I can.

“I mean it. Anyone whose job is to protect people can’t be such an absolutist. It makes you weak. Gives other people an easy shot at you.”

“‘Other people’? Do you mean people like you?”

“No. I mean people like the ones who attacked Lindsay.”

“Right. People like you.”

I shake my head slowly, the waves of panic flowing through me, giving in to them. Letting them come because what choice do I have?

And guess what?

You can feel all of that panic, let the anxiety overwhelm you, nearly black out from the incongruity of being shamed, driving toward an unknown destination where you have no control–
–and still stand up for yourself.

“I have nothing left to lose, Silas. My mom is dead, my reputation’s beyond salvageable, I don’t have a job or a place to live, and everywhere I go someone’s trying to kill me. Even my online world is nothing but garbage and threats from shitlords. So, as a simple thought exercise, can you try? You’re protecting me. Someone assigned you to me. Give me the courtesy of doing your job completely. If I’m stuck with you–and I know I am–I, at least, want you to do your best.”

I'll be the first to admit that when I started this book, I felt a bit lost (despite having read the Harmless series), but once everything started to click and the suspense got seriously rolling, I absolutely couldn't put the book down. (I seem to recall a post about carrying my kindle EVERYWHERE so I could continue to read it -- I didn't want to miss a thing lol). Do you have to read the Harmless series first? I think you can still enjoy the suspense of this story without it but personally I would absolutely read those three books first so you have the background and can do like I did -- AHA -- over and over and over. Jane has been painted as the serious bad guy, people want her dead for the role she played in the kidnapping and harm done to America's sweetheart, Lindsay Bosworth. She maintains her innocence but it seems that not a soul really believes her. Silas Gentian works for Lindsay's husband Drew and is tasked with protecting Jane per Senator Bosworth's orders.

There are so many twists and Oh My God moments in this book that you sit there shaking your head saying "I never saw that one coming" and "Give me the next book now". This does end on a doozy of a cliffhanger but it is absolutely worth the read. Meli Raine does romantic suspense amazingly and it is proven with this book!

When I found out that there was going to be a spinoff series to Harmless series, I was super excited. I never thought I would love a political suspense romance as much as I love these books. I think this series and the Harmless series is a great read for anyone who enjoys a little romance with their suspense. This is not a standalone, but I suggest that you go ahead an download the Harmless series it will give you more insight into certain things. That is just my suggestion, you can always go back a read the Harmless series after finishing this one.

I am not going to lie the beginning is a little slow to get started, but it is totally worth it to keep reading. It wasn't until the second half that the story takes off with all the twists and turns and ah-ha moments. Find out what the deal is with Silas and enjoy how all the little detail unfold until the huge cliffhanger at the end that left my jaw hitting the floor.

So, I say take a chance and check out this book.

Preoccupied with a text on my phone from my agent, I walk into the kitchen and suck in a breath when I come face to back with Grady. He’s standing with his hand on the refrigerator door, head leaned inside, and his back fully exposed to me. It’s broad and strong and scarred immeasurably. I stare. I can’t help it. The marks are a dizzying array of dark and light and ridged and smooth. And they’re undeniably burns. Goosebumps chase over my skin as I imagine the pain he must have endured when he got those. I think of his habit of wearing unbuttoned shirts but never going shirtless and the hint of scars just visible above his collar that I never could have imagined led to this roadmap to hell on his back. A part of me instinctively wants to reach out to touch them, bring some kind of comfort. It sounds ridiculous, even to me, but that doesn’t abate the urge. “Not pretty, huh? Get a good look while you can.” His voice is gruff as his spine stiffens and body stills, emotion woven through the words. “Thank God not all of you is pretty. I was beginning to feel majorly insecure having to live with perfection like you,” I say off the cuff, trying to make this situation less awkward. My attempt to settle the sudden tension sparking in the air around us. “Perfection?” he asks as he turns to face me with a smile that masks the emotion swirling in his eyes. “Yeah. You have scars. I have mermaid thighs.” “Mermaid thighs?” He laughs. “What in the world are you talking about?” “Thighs that touch from the top all the way to my knees.” I shrug as if it doesn’t bug me, as if I’m not highlighting one of the insults Tara threw at me. It’s a whole lot easier to make fun of myself so long as it puts him at ease. “Do you ever give yourself a break?” Do you?” I ask the question, sparking a silent battle of wills as we stare at each other and wonder what to say next about the other’s insecurities. Coming up empty, I shift gears. “I think there is some type of rule about how many abs are fair for a guy to have when the rest of us are just struggling to find one of them.” His smile rings more genuine as he steps toward me, and I step back, my hips leaning against the counter now. “Is that so?” His voice lowers as his eyes flick to my lips and then back up. “I’m sure you have some under your shirt there.” Why does the simple action make it seem so hard to swallow? He takes another step. “What are you building outside?” “A playroom.” A nervous chuckle falls from my lips as I think of all of the versions of playrooms I’ve read about in my romance books. My cheeks stain red as I imagine Grady with a flogger in one hand standing beside a St. Andrew’s Cross. “A playroom?” “Yeah.” He takes a step closer so we’re breathing the same air, his voice husky enough to cause every part of my body to grow alert. “A playroom. You know . . . a pool table. Foosball. A real man cave.” I exhale a shaky sigh, suddenly more than aware that he’s so close, shirtless, sweaty, and smelling like sun and soap mixed together. But it’s his eyes that make my thoughts falter. There’s an intensity to them I don’t expect from the perpetually cheerful Grady Malone. “Ah, that kind of playroom . . .” But my words trail off as he steps even closer and braces his hands on the counter on either side of me. I can hear his intake of breath. The music floating in from outside. The pound of my pulse in my ears. “Hey, Dyl?” “Yes?” Our eyes hold, my lips fall lax. “I need you to open up.” What?” I question as his hand brushes against my hip and his fingers pull on the drawer handle I’m standing in front of. “I need the bottle opener. You’re standing in front of the drawer it’s in.” His lips spread into a full-fledged grin as I scramble away from the counter and, of course, run smack dab into the hardness, all six foot plus of him. And then I rebound off him again in a flustered state that has him laughing and me stuttering. “Sorry. I wasn’t—I didn’t . . .” His arms hold on to my biceps to steady me, which prompts me to look up and meet his eyes. “We need to stop meeting like this,” he murmurs, the heat of his breath hitting my lips. “We do.” Brilliant, Dylan. Freaking brilliant response. “I’ve gotta . . . I’ve gotta get back to . . . to writing.”

Combust is the 2nd book in K. Bromberg's Everyday Heroes series and what an amazing book it was. Here is the case of not judging a book by it's cover...although you can definitely judge the cover if you want. It is definitely a hot firefighter and the story is definitely about a hot firefighter. Grady is brother to Grant from the first book in the series, Cuffed. The Malone's are all protectors and first-responders and they take their jobs seriously. While Dylan and Grant's chemistry is definitely combustible in every sense of the word, this story is about so much more than the steam the pages contain.

I had every emotion reading this story. K. Bromberg writes beautifully about issues that we all can relate to...feelings of unworthiness, guilt, pain and fear. We never really see in ourselves what others see in us and Grant and Dylan must learn to really, truly see what others see in them in order to move forward with not only their own lives, but with any luck, a life together. There were so many really poignant moments in this book that I wish I could go into details about but won't because you really need to "feel" those heartwarming, beautiful, aha moments for yourself. I had moments where I smiled to myself like a loon and others where I couldn't stop crying picturing what it must have been like to see these events. An amazing read!
